Developer life in academia & research presentation at Devstaff

I had the pleasure of speaking at a recent meetup hosted by DevStaff.gr, an open developers community based in Crete. As a member of their organizing team, I’ve been involved with these monthly free meetups that bring together tech enthusiasts from across the local developer scene.

Presentation: Developer life in academia & research

My talk was a part of the “Navigating Academia: Insights from Developers and Researchers” meetup. It was titled “Developer life in academia & research”, and explored the unique challenges and opportunities of blending software development with academic pursuits. The intersection of these two fields is often complex, involving different workflows, publication cycles, and funding models. We explored how researchers can effectively apply modern software engineering practices to their work while navigating the demands of academia, and balancing publication requirements with practical development needs.
